Court Assistant (Estimated 03-04 Posts): Court Assistants perform clerical and administrative duties in courtrooms and court offices. The position requires physical fitness, alertness, discipline, respectful behavior, and willingness to work diligently.
Educational Qualification Requirements
For Court Assistant positions, candidates must possess a Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a recognized university. B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., or any bachelor's degree from a UGC-recognized university or institution is acceptable. Computer knowledge is mandatory, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel), typing in English and Telugu, internet operations, and basic computer applications. Candidates with typing speed of minimum 30 words per minute in English are preferred. Knowledge of court procedures, legal terminology, and judicial processes is advantageous though not mandatory as training will be provided after selection.
For Court Attendant positions, candidates must have passed 10th class (SSC) from a recognized board. Higher educational qualifications like Intermediate or Degree are desirable and may get preference during selection. Basic literacy in English and Telugu is essential. Physical fitness is important as the job involves standing for long hours, carrying files, and moving around court premises. Candidates should be able to understand and follow instructions from judicial officers and senior staff. Prior experience in court offices, law firms, or similar environments is an added advantage.
Age Limit and Relaxation
The minimum age for applying is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 42 years as on the closing date of application (16 February 2026). Candidates born between 17 February 1984 and 16 February 2008 are eligible to apply. Age proof will be verified through SSC certificate or birth certificate issued by competent authority. Age relaxation is provided as per Government of Andhra Pradesh rules and High Court of Andhra Pradesh regulations.
Upper age relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation (maximum age 47 years), OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years relaxation (maximum age 45 years), Persons with Disabilities (PwD) get 10 years relaxation (maximum age 52 years), Ex-servicemen get relaxation as per Defense Ministry rules (age at the time of discharge from service + period of service rendered in defense + 3 years, subject to maximum limit), and Widows, divorced women, and judicially separated women get 5 years relaxation. Candidates claiming age relaxation must submit valid certificates issued by competent authorities during document verification.
Salary and Remuneration
The monthly remuneration for Court Assistant positions is approximately Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 15,000 per month on a consolidated basis. The exact salary will be determined by the District Court administration based on qualifications, experience, and budget allocation. Court Attendant positions carry monthly remuneration of approximately Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000 per month. The salaries are paid monthly through bank transfer directly to employees' accounts. There are no separate allowances like DA, HRA, or TA as the remuneration is consolidated.
The engagement is on outsourcing/contract basis through manpower agencies or direct engagement by the court. The initial contract period is typically 11 months which may be renewed annually based on performance, conduct, requirement, and availability of budget. Satisfactory performance can lead to contract renewal for multiple years. The positions do not confer any claim for regularization or permanent employment in the judicial department. However, experienced contract employees get preference in future regular recruitments conducted by Andhra Pradesh High Court or District Courts.
Selection Process
The selection process will involve scrutiny of applications followed by written test and/or skill test and personal interview. First, all applications will be screened to verify eligibility criteria including educational qualifications, age limit, and other requirements. Incomplete applications or those not meeting eligibility will be rejected at this stage.
Eligible candidates will be called for written test and/or skill test. For Court Assistant positions, the test may include questions on General Knowledge, General English, Basic Mathematics, Computer Knowledge, and Reasoning Ability. A typing test in English and Telugu may also be conducted to assess typing speed and accuracy. For Court Attendant positions, a general knowledge test along with physical fitness assessment may be conducted.
Candidates qualifying in the written/skill test will be called for personal interview before a Selection Committee comprising District Judge, Administrative Judge, and other senior judicial officers. The interview will assess candidate's knowledge, communication skills, attitude, behavior, sincerity, and overall suitability for working in court environment. Final selection will be based on combined performance in test and interview. A merit list will be prepared, and candidates will be appointed in order of merit. General Instructions and Conditions
Selected candidates will be engaged on contract/outsourcing basis through approved agencies or direct engagement. The engagement is purely temporary and does not confer any right for regularization or permanent employment. The contract is initially for 11 months and may be extended annually based on performance and requirement. Either party can terminate the contract with 15 days notice. Selected candidates must execute an agreement/bond as per court rules before joining.
Employees must maintain punctuality, discipline, and professional conduct. Court timings are usually 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on working days (Monday to Friday), with half-day on Saturdays and holidays as per court calendar. Employees must wear decent formal attire and maintain respectful behavior with judges, lawyers, litigants, and colleagues. Strict confidentiality of court proceedings, case details, and judicial matters must be maintained. Breach of confidentiality or misconduct will lead to immediate termination.
Providing false information, fake certificates, or suppression of material facts at any stage will lead to cancellation of candidature and termination of services without notice. Criminal prosecution may also be initiated. The District Court reserves the right to cancel the recruitment, increase or decrease vacancies, modify terms and conditions, or reject any application without assigning reasons. Selected candidates may be posted in any court within East Godavari District as per administrative requirements. No TA/DA will be paid for attending test or interview.
